Wagon maintenance and rail transport under our own control: recertification for ECM and SSC
We are proud to have been recertified as both an ECM and a Railway Undertaking. This recertification enables us to continue organising the maintenance and operation of our wagon fleet independently for the next five years. The benefit for you as a customer? A high level of safety, operational reliability and reduced risks. In addition, rail transport availability is better controlled because maintenance, planning and operations are organised within a single organisation. This allows us to respond quickly and support rail projects with safe, reliable and predictable logistics services.
Maintenance and operations under one roof
The ECM certificate (Entity in Charge of Maintenance) and the SSC certificate (Single Safety Certificate) together form the foundation of our rail logistics activities. Under the ECM certification, we maintain our own rolling stock, including our wagon fleet and locomotives. The SSC ensures that our railway operations as a railway undertaking, from shunting activities to the deployment of work trains such as SALT, are carried out safely and responsibly.
Because both certifications are held within our organisation, we manage maintenance and operations in an integrated manner. This improves alignment between planning, maintenance and deployment, makes lead times and availability more predictable, and provides direct insight into the relationship between the technical condition and operational availability of wagons.
1,200 vehicles under our management
The maintenance and asset management scope covers approximately 1,200 vehicles. This places us among the larger private rail operators in the Netherlands. We are proud that the recertification confirms that we demonstrably comply with European requirements for a well-organised maintenance process.
As part of the recertification process, we also implemented organisational improvements. ECM and SSC activities are no longer assigned to a single department but are embedded within the central management system. As a result, multiple teams are structurally involved, knowledge is shared more quickly, and safety and quality awareness are more firmly embedded in daily operations. Customers benefit from this in practice through fewer surprises and a more stable deployment of rolling stock.
Stable and predictable operations
With a large fleet and management under ECM and SSC, we can organise activities in a stable, predictable and efficient manner. Safety is safeguarded within a system that is continuously assessed and improved. ECM and SSC therefore form the foundation for reliable operations. Would you like to know more?
