Reuse and Recycling
A safe and highly available rail network requires proper maintenance. When needed, this also includes renewal work or new construction. These activities naturally generate a significant amount of material from the rail infrastructure, and during maintenance or renewal this often equals the volume that is newly installed. However, not everything that is removed automatically becomes waste. Many materials have not yet reached the end of their service life and can often be reused. And even if they can no longer be used in the track, there are often other meaningful applications.
Our overarching goal is to reduce the ecological footprint of the rail infrastructure. This is reason enough for us to develop a comprehensive concept for reuse and recycling together with our partners.
