Flash butt weld

Up to 360-meter long welded rails

voestalpine Track Solutions Netherlands welds the raw material length of 120-meter rails in its welding plant to a maximum length of 360 meters with just two flash butt welds. These are applied in track renewal and new construction.

By welding rails into longer lengths in advance, a significant amount of time is saved during track construction. Additionally, the quality of the welds is better, as they are made under controlled conditions using the most advanced technical installations. 

Our welding factory, which meets high technical standards, is fully equipped to meet the highest production demands. The main components of the welding process are automated to deliver optimal quality. We weld in accordance with the RLN00451 guideline from ProRail and the NEN-EN-14587-1 standard. A test weld is frequently tested by an external party to ensure the quality of the welds.

The highest quality weld, transported directly to the site

The rail is very precisely aligned to ensure it falls well within the prescribed tolerances at the weld. Rails can also be cut to any desired length. We use a track & trace system for our long welded rails.

The rails can be transported directly to the site and are then unloaded with the RoboTrain.
